ABOUT
BANDALOOP honors nature, community, and the human spirit through perspective-bending dance. An innovator in vertical performance, BANDALOOP seamlessly weaves dynamic physicality, intricate choreography, and the art of climbing to turn the dance floor on its side. Under the artistic direction of Melecio Estrella, the work re-imagines dance, activates public spaces, and inspires wonder and imagination in audiences around the world.
BANDALOOP was founded by Amelia Rudolph in 1991 and has performed in theaters and museums, on skyscrapers, bridges, billboards and historical sites, in atriums and convention halls, in nature on cliffs, and on screen. Community is a pillar of the dance company’s work and they regularly offer courses for students and adults in Oakland, as well as lectures and corporate team building workshops worldwide.
Among BANDALOOP’s vertical dancefloors are the New York Stock Exchange, the LIC Building (Delhi), the Space Needle, IBM Headquarters Brazil, the National Museum (Singapore), the Campanile Tower at The Venetian Macau, UNESCO sites, Yosemite’s El Capitan, and the Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay (California). The dance company headlines at festivals and grand openings celebrating new structures and public spaces, including the Virgin Galactic Spaceport; Los Angeles City Hall for the launch of Grand Park and Mayor Eric Garcetti’s dedication ceremony for La La Land Day; the IFC Tower in Seoul; Peter Marino’s Hublot flagship in New York City; and Hermès Beverly Hills.
BANDALOOP believes in the power of its perspective shifting site-specific art as a means of dialogue between vastly different cultures and people, revitalizing public spaces, and as a tool to invite authentic engagement and creative curiosity.

LOOM
A NATIONAL DANCE PROJECT 2021 AWARD RECIPIENT
Explores the art of weaving and the ecological implications. A 3-part large scale public art performance, the first part, FLOOD, was premiered in Bentonville, AR, at The Momentary, and the second part, FIELD, was premiered in Atlanta, GA in collaboration with FLUX Projects.
